From Personal Passion to Professional Service: The Birth of Lightning Flash Writing

I launched Writing Services on my professional website, Allison Renner Writes, on October 17th – my maternal grandmother’s birthday. It’s a special date for me, and she influenced my path so much in life that it seemed like the right move.

However, the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to keep my professional writing for others separate from the writing I do for myself. Since Allison Renner Writes was already established as my portfolio page, I wanted to create something new for my Writing Services.

Well, kind of new…

Back in February 2021, I started LightningFlashWriting on Instagram and Blogger as a creative outlet for my flash fiction explorations.

I posted thoughts on flash fiction essays I read and participated in the A to Z blogging challenge. I paired my photography with my writing just to have a creative practice. I submitted flash fiction to journals and magazines too, but these were just quick exercises for me to write every day.

Hmm, maybe I should get back to that…

But I digress! I already had the Instagram name, and Lightning Flash perfectly describes my approach to writing for clients—not only do I work quickly, like a bolt of lightning, but I also deliver work that shines. Just as lightning brightens the sky, I aim to bring clarity and focus to my clients’ ideas, delivering quality results on time without cutting corners. After securing the domain name, the transition to Lightning Flash Writing was complete!

And launching the name change on Halloween just feels right, the same way starting the business on my grandmother’s birthday did.

So here we are – welcome!
